Britney Spears And Giorgio Moroder’s Cover Of “Tom’s Diner” Arrives In Full: Listen
A snippet of Britney Spears and Giorgio Moroder’s “Tom’s Diner” surfaced online earlier today (April 24), but it didn’t take long for the full version to arrive. A delightfully hypnotic update of Suzanne Vega’s belated 1990 hit (courtesy of a DNA remix), the collaboration is fairly faithful to the original — with the exception of the heavy autotune on Brit’s vocal and a bizarre robotic interlude toward the middle.
“Everybody’s welcome, come on, come on in,” sings a heavily distorted Giorgio (I assume). “Sit yourself down, the fun here never ends. Love is the drug that makes you want to drink until the morning after.” That unnecessary flourish breaks the spell for a moment, but, as a whole, it’s a well-executed update of a pop classic. Could this be the song to return the 74-year-old producer to the charts? Have a listen below and let us know in the comments.
