‘The Voice’: Jason Derulo Performs “Want To Want Me” & Top 6 Decided

It’s always nice when celebrities rally for a good cause…especially when they look completely ridiculous doing so. On Tuesday night’s (April 28) episode of The Voice, both Blake Shelton and Carson Daly looked silly for charity, and donned red noses to promote NBC’s upcoming Red Nose Day. Adam Levine couldn’t contain his laughter, even when put in his place by a somber Carson, who told him (in earnest), “I’m lifting kids out of poverty, Adam. It’s very important.”

Christina Aguilera joined in for the ridiculous part, going full oompa loompa with orange skin. Although no charity was officially associated, one can only assume she was benefiting the Spray Tanning Association Of America in her own small way.

Beyond the charities and general face-altering action on Tuesday night’s results show, coaches Christina, Adam, Blake and Pharrell all watched as the Top 8 was whittled down to just six on the whim of America’s votes. Naturally, they also watched a few guest performances.

Here’s what they saw:

Jason Derulo kicks the show off with “Want To Want Me.” The performance gets considerably better when Team Christina’s Kimberly Nichole and India Carney join him. Sure, there’s a little bit of third wheeling going on for India when Jason Derulo gets nice and cozy with Kimberly, but she pulls through with minimal awkwardness.

Making her Voice debut, pop singer Rozzi Crane sings “Psycho.” Rozzi was the first artist signed to Adam Levine’s 222 Records label, which clearly comes with some nationally-televised perks. Adam beams at his protégé, post-performance.

ACM winner Lee Brice fills the country quota and sings “Drinking Class” with Corey Kent White. Corey looks more relaxed and natural than ever, and Lee Brice looks like he spent the better part of the day holed up in a bar with Blake Shelton.

While we’re already judging, let’s get to those results!

VOTED THROUGH

Team Adam: Joshua Davis

Team Pharrell: Sawyer Fredericks, Koryn Hawthorne

Team Blake: Meghan Linsey

Team Christina: Kimberly Nichole

The previously undaunted Team Blake suffers a huge blow with two out of three team members on the chopping block! Can one of them earn a save?

Team Blake’s Hannah Kirby sings Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive.” It’s theatrical, certainly, but doesn’t come close to her past performances. Not a good start for Blake’s saves, but her coach offers positive reinforcement nonetheless.

“I don’t know anybody else that’s ever been on this stage on this show that’s just cut from a different cloth like Hannah is,” says Blake.

Team Blake’s Corey Kent White follows Hannah’s performance with Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You.” It’s better than Hannah’s performance, but lacks any sort of standout quality that could lock down a win…unless Blake were the only voter.

“You don’t sound like anybody else, and that’s important,” says Blake. “That’s important to country music to have somebody like you represent the genre on a stage like this.”

Team Christina’s India Carney ends it in every way with Christina Perri’s “Human.” Her stunning performance all but erases the memory of whatshername and whatshisface’s performance. She’s got nerves of steal and powers through it like there’s no pressure whatsoever.

“You are a true fighter,” says Christina. “Don’t let this girl go, guys — she deserves to be here.”

The voter’s listen to Christina, and although it was the “closest vote ever,” according to Carson, Team Christina survives the Instant Save.

Saved: India Carney

Going Home: Hannah Kirby, Corey Kent White

Though neither Pharrell nor Christina have won a season before, it’s looking more and more likely like this could be the year for a new champ now that both Blake and Adam are down to just one contestant each. That said, Blake did manage to beat all three of Adam’s contestants with just one of his own in last season’s finals, so never underestimate the power of the country vote.

Sound off: how are the results settling with you?
