Duke Dumont’s “The Giver (Mark Ronson Remix)”: Idolator Premiere
The British producer discusses the current state of house.
British producers Duke Dumont and Mark Ronson have collided for a remix of “The Giver.” The original version of the song was released in the US as part of Dumont’s four-track EP1 last September. Now it’s been updated and slated as his follow-up single to “Won’t Look Back.”
This allowed “Uptown Funk” hit-maker Ronson to rework the track for a remix that strips away the house vibe of “The Giver” and turns it into a cool, smooth R&B joint that wouldn’t have sounded out of place in 1985. (It works quite well in 2015, as well!)
