Miguel plays it cool when asked about the GIF-able moment.

Nearly two years ago, Miguel was performing his hit “Adorn” at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, when he got a little too into it and tried to jump across the pit of fans, severely misjudging the distance and essentially drop-kicking two females in the head. It resulted in a flurry of GIFs and jokes, but now a lawsuit has also materialized from the incident.

TMZ reports the victim on the left, Cindy Tsai, is suing Miguel and the MGM Grand Hotel for negligence, seeking damages for pain and suffering, medical bills and lost wages. Interestingly, in the initial aftermath of the jump it was the other victim, Khyati Shah, who was making headlines. Miguel met with Shah immediately after, as she iced her elbow backstage, and they were all smiles. But in the weeks following that encounter, reports emerged that Shah was seeking legal action.

That Shah case never appeared, and this whole time, the heretofore unknown second victim hadn’t let out a peep. Until now — conveniently emerging with a lawsuit just in time for the promotional push for Miguel’s just-announced new album WILDHEART.
