Mariah Carey’s “Infinity” Now Her Highest-Charting Single Since Miguel Pair-Up “Beautiful”

Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace kicked off last night, giving the not-so-elusive-lately chanteuse cause to celebrate — but she can also raise a glass of bubbly to the fact that she’s back on the Billboard Hot 100!

This week Carey’s #1 To Infinity single “Infinity” (i.e. the only new track on the compilation of the diva’s chart-toppers) debuts at #82, marking her first appearance on the Hot 100 since lovey-dovey Me. I Am Mariah tune “You’re Mine (Eternal)” scraped its way to #88 in early 2014. Further to that, it’s her highest chart placing since Platinum-selling Miguel duet “Beautiful” reached #15 two years ago.

Whether Mimi can keep the momentum going for further weeks remains to be seen, but she does still have a card up her sleeve in the form of the “Infinity” music video, which has yet to premiere. Once the Brett Ratner-directed clip does arrive, it should give the song another kick on the chart, given the video views alone. She’s also got that upcoming performance at the Billboard Music Awards…worth a whistle-squeal, right?

All this said, it’s good to see Mimi back on the charts. We’re probably not alone in hoping for Carey Comeback 3.0.

Anyway, we already weighed in with our thoughts on Mariah’s latest. Do you think “Infinity” has staying power, Lambily?
