Kelly Clarkson – “Heartbeat Song” Kelly Clarkson recently signed up for the role of mommy, but before that, she had her baby involved in her music since conception. On “Heartbeat Song,” Kelly samples the prenatal heartbeat of her child, hence the title. It’s quite possibly one of the most intimate pop songs out, considering we as her fans aren’t invited to those magical moments. The fact that Kelly Clarkson chose to share that with the world proves how truly excited she is to be a mother.

Kelis – “Song For The Baby” When Kelis released Flesh Tone in 2010, she was at a point in her career where she was experimenting with new sounds and new roles, as she gave birth to her son a year prior (with rapper Nas). Settling into that new life is inspiring, and on album cut “Song For The Baby,” she puts all of her emotions out there to celebrate her child’s new life. “I love you more than you’ll ever know,” she sings over the ultra-dancy beat. Let’s get sentimental in the club, shall we?

Britney Spears – “My Baby” We were so used to Britney being a wild child (and kind of a loose cannon) that when she crafted the adorable “My Baby,” it was something of a shock to the system. Brit gets personal in this 2008 Circus album cut as she asks how did she get through her days before being a mom. For someone who got her start chanting “oh baby baby” about a love interest, this was a whole different “baby baby” she was talking about here. Such a nice break from the norm for Mama Brit.

Shakira – “The One Thing” From the woman who brought us truthful hips comes a powerful song about her offspring. “The One Thing” is many things, but above all an admission from Shakira that she’s come a long way to becoming a mother. From mistakes in past lives to maybe not fully understanding what the next step entails, she sweetly brings this ode to her baby that is just as much awesome as it is honest. She’s still got her hips though. And they don’t lie.

Mariah Carey – “Supernatural” There was this moment not too long ago when Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s little family were absolutely adorable. When MC gave us Me. I Am Mariah: The Elusive Chanteuse, she was fully engaged in that moment, loving everything about being a wife and a mom to Monroe and Moroccan. This track “Supernatural” is a culmination of all of those feelings, as our favorite balladeer gives us a mid-tempo lovefest — complete with ad-libbed laughs from dem babies.

Happy Mother’s Day!
