Miguel has been all over the place now that he’s getting ready to drop his third album, WILDHEART, on June 30. In recent weeks, he has blasted out shirtless photos, showed up on an A$AP Rocky track, landed a starring acting role and hit the studio with Skrillex. And now, he has released a magnetic in-studio version of “Coffee (F***ing)” with an alternate arrangement.

This live take reverts to the song’s original refrain of “Coffee in the morning” instead of the racier lyrics on the single version featuring Wale. As is typical with Miguel’s performances, the live instrumentation swaps out the intimate sexiness of the original for something with a rougher edge and added intensity.

The video, which you can watch above, was part of a partnership with Jack Daniel’s, and surely some hip coffee makers are kicking themselves for letting this opportunity go to a whiskey company. We have no idea why the visual crams Miguel and his band into a tiny little circle, but for what essentially amounts to a glorified booze ad with a very confusing title, it’s a pretty solid offering.
