The legendary diva revealed the news in a video announcement!

Rihanna is no stranger to the Saturday Night Live stage  — who could forget her hilarious “Shy Ronnie” skits with Adam Sandberg or her rousing “Stay” performance in 2012? — so it makes perfect sense for the comedy show to bring back the singer for their 40th season finale last night (May 16).

RiRi first riled up the SNL crowd with her polarizing tune, “Bitch Better Have My Money.” She showed off her Bad Gal side (while looking like a young Mary J. Blige in an all-denim outfit) as she opened up the track by simulating a car chase on stage with someone’s wife in the backseat of her car — or maybe it was her personal assistant, Jenn Rosales?

The singer then returned to perform her latest track, “American Oxygen.” Despite last night being SNL’s 40th season finale, there was no excitement to it at all. That could have been changed with a RiRi appearance in a few sketches, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
