Brandon Flowers' 'The Desired Effect': LP Review
See why the synth-soaked new album is one of his career highlights.

We’ve finally reached the weekend, Idolator readers! The past few days were filled with major musicmoments, which kicked off with the 2015 Billboard Music Awards! There weren’t any big highlights — save for the anticipated “Bad Blood” video from Taylor Swift — but you can click here to read our recap.

It was Tidal takeover week, as Nicki Minaj dropped her “Feelin’ Myself” video with Beyonce and her “Night Is Still Young” visual on the streaming service within days of each other. But one of the biggest news of the week was Janet Jackson’s announcement of her musical return (finally)!

On our end, we interviewed brat-pop duo HOLYCHILD and David Guetta, and also announced yet another Fifth Harmony giveaway!

An of course, our readers spoke their minds on the going-ons in the frantic musicworld. Read some of the best and shadiest comments below. (And we are now adding a fun addition to Whatcha Say — your most memorable tweets!)

:: Nate Lyless was so over us on Lock Up Ya Faves! Selena Gomez’s New Album Is “Close To Being Done”: Well who care it is fuckin Selena Gomez not gaga or perry or rihanna, average, “lock up ya faves” it is far too exaggerated l, what will you write when a lady gaga will drop the new album? “End of the world?”

:: Like many of us, Mark is so ready for Janet’s comeback on Janet Jackson Confirms New Music And World Tour In Video Announcement: Watch: “I am very excited about this. The concern with a ‘comeback’ like this, though, is that there will be substantial pressure to pump out a hit (or better yet, 2 or 3) that will appeal to the mass market. But fuck that. While I want some fun and/or frivolous dance tracks, I want wise Janet, I want provocative Janet, I want intelligent Janet, I want vulnerable Janet, I want song-writing Janet, I want bad-ass Janet, I want Velvet Rope II Janet. This album should be sonically, lyrically and emotionally layered, and not some attempt at achieving relevancy through mimicry. I hope she follows her heart on this one–cause that is the Janet music lovers need.”

:: Lebrick wants some change on Hear A Snippet Of Drake’s Latest Beyonce Collaboration: “I hope we get some different production on this album Im getting a little tired of the 40 sound it’s starting to sound the same. He needs to start working with other producers I like when he and Timberland get together. Wayne had to get away from Manny Fresh I think this is similar if Drake wants to grow anymore as an artist he has to switch it up some. More rapping less singing he’s not spitting like he used to”

:: THE MET GALA said what everyone else is thinking on ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Becomes The Latest Soundtrack To Top The Album Chart: “I’m not sure how others feel. But each time, rather, each week a new #1 is crowned on the Billboard 200 I cannot help to be reminded how Madonna’s Rebel Heart was robbed of the top spot on that chart even though it bested Empire in physical sales.”

:: Finally Thomas Alex Dugrosprez wrapped up with this witty comment on Katy Perry To Release A New Album “By 2016” According To Manager: Imagine a “Bad Blood” response on a Christmas album.
