Robyn Announces Side Project La Bagatelle Magique

It’s been almost five years since Robyn released her last solo album, and it looks like she has another collaborative project on the way before she gives fans a proper Body Talk follow-up. In the wake of her joint album with Röyksopp, the Swedish singer has announced a new project called La Bagatelle Magique (or Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique, based on this press release).

The group comprises Robyn, her touring keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt and producer Christian Falk (who died from pancreatic cancer last year). Last August, Robyn revealed that she had been working with those two on what was presumed to be her next solo EP, but it appears the trio’s material was actually meant for this project. La Bagatelle Magique will make its live debut at Stockholm’s Dans Dakar Festival in August.

The only bit of new music from the group as of now is an instrumental loop on its official site, which Spin noticed is tagged “Love Is Free” in the html code, and which resembles parts of a song by that name which Robyn performed on tour last year.

Speaking about their work just weeks after Falk’s passing last year, Robyn previously said, “He was sick for a while before he died, and that’s also one of the reasons I wanted to make sure that we got that material out there… It’s also changed the songs a little bit, me and Markus are still working on it. It’s going to be strange, but very healing, to finish the record without Christian.”
