New M.I.A. (Kinda): Listen
Hear her collaboration with French techno supergroup Gener8ion.

The start of the 2015 was quite a slow one for music, but the energetic vibes are finally kicking in as the weather gets warmer. There are a handful of contenders for song of the summer, and Icona Pop’s comeback single has the potential to top the list!

The Swedish duo return with “Emergency,” a kooky uptempo that features vocals from fellow Swede — Erik Hassle. The vintage-sounding tune continues the undying brass instrumentals trend, as it includes vibrant horns, gospel-tinged harmonies and a stomping bass. It embodies the vibe of 2013’s The Great Gatsby if it were tripping on acid — which is totally a good thing!

No word on when Icona Pop plan to announce their sophomore follow up to 2013’s This Is… Icona Popbut judging from “Emergency” it will be a fun one! The last time we’ve heard from the duo was with their “Never Been In Love” collaboration with Cobra Starship back in October.

Take a listen to “Emergency” below, and let us know in the comments if you’re excited for Icona Pop’s musical return!
