Is Beyonce even human? When she’s not changing the game with surprise albums or breaking the internet with a video filmed on her phone, the 33-year-old is recording hit records in less time than it takes most of us to drink a cup of coffee. Producer/artist Rico Love spoke to US Weekly about working on the diva’s 2009 top 10 hit “Sweet Dreams” and recalled that she took 15 minutes to lay down the vocal.

“Beyonce was six hours late to the session because it was the worst storm of all time in Miami,” he remembers. “Beyonce shows up, in full Beyonce mode — hair done, make-up, shades, high heels — she’s like, ‘I’m so sorry guys! I cannot stay because Jay Z has a concert, but I didn’t want to not come, because I know you guys have been waiting all day’.” Rico then asked if he could at least play “Sweet Dreams” for her. Bey loved it so much she recorded the vocal on the spot.

“Sweet Dreams” was the sixth single from Beyonce’s 2008 mega-selling I Am… Sasha Fierce album. It peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, but was an even bigger hit around the globe — reaching number one in New Zealand, number two in Australia, Brazil and France, and number five in the UK. It went on to sell 1.7 million copies in the US. Revisit the track below.
