UPDATE: The full version of “Nightmare” has surfaced today (June 9).

A snippet of an unreleased Miley Cyrus song leaked online last night (June 5).

The pop-rock track, reportedly titled “Nightmare,” is punchier than what Cyrus has been performing lately, from Paul Simon covers (“50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” for her Happy Hippy Foundation and Saturday Night Live) to a prog rock-inspired collaboration with The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne (“Tiger Dreams,” which she premiered at the May 13 Adult Swim Upfront Party).

I’m still trying to wake up from this,” she wails to a driving beat.

Cyrus has yet to say anything about the snippet, so whether the song is an outtake or part of her follow-up to 2013’s Bangerz is unclear. Hear the full version below.
