The wait for Demi Lovato‘s new music is almost over. During the June 6 DigiFest stop at New York’s Citi Field, Lovato told fans that she will start releasing songs off her fifth album this summer.

“It’s going to be a real exciting summer for my fans,” she said, to shrieks. “I cannot wait for you guys to hear some new music.”

Lovato started working on new material in late 2014, before she even finished the last leg of her tour supporting 2013’s Demi. This album will be released by her and Nick Jonas‘ just-formed label, Safehouse Records.

Early on in the recording process, Lovato promised a new “authentic” sound with her latest music. In a recent interview, she explained in greater detail what she meant by that.

“This time around, I was able to explore different sounds and hone in on something that I’m really proud of,” Lovato says to MTV. She also revealed that, while she hasn’t locked down any collaborations just yet, she still hopes to work with Eminem, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Smith and Iggy Azalea.
