Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You” Gets A Lovely Cover By British Singer Nao

British singer Nao is a purveyor of soulful future R&B in the vein of AlunaGeorge, having worked with Jai Paul‘s brother A.K. Paul and singing in a register that’s equal parts helium and huskiness, similar to Aluna Francis‘ but with a more elastic range. On the heels of Nao’s February 15 EP, she recently appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Piano Sessions for a spare cover of Frank Ocean‘s “Thinkin Bout You” that highlighted her unique voice.
Accompanied by Mura Masa on the piano, she offers a dusky, delicate rendition of the already featherlight ballad. It’s lovely, and also a good reminder to go back and listen to Channel Orange while waiting for Ocean’s next album to drop.
