Zedd Is A Knife-Wielding Thug In Confusing But Gripping “Beautiful Now” Video: Watch
Zedd’s “Beautiful Now” video doesn’t have a plot as such. Instead, it’s a series of intense vignettes that document people at their lowest moments — a girl contemplates suicide, a family is attacked by armed bandits and an old man gives up on life — juxtaposed with memories of pure joy. The German DJ plays a larger role than usual in the video, starring a knife-wielding thug. The visual doesn’t make a lot of sense (I think the message is keep going because you never know what’s ahead in life), but it’s still gripping and oddly beautiful.
Assisted by rapper/singer Jon Bellion, “Beautiful Now” is the second cut from Zedd’s sophomore LP True Colors. The 25-year-old landed a top 20 hit with lead single “I Want You To Know,” but recently became blog fodder when Diplo described the project as a “pile of shit.” The “Lean On” hitmaker better watch out. It looks like Selena Gomez’s ex is embracing his inner-bad boy and has the mad knife skills to back it up.
