Sabrina Carpenter is Disney’s secret weapon. The 16-year-old arrived in 2014 with twangy EP Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying (the title track was penned by a pre-fame Meghan Trainor), but swapped country music for acoustic-pop on debut LP Eyes Wide Open. Lead single “We’ll Be The Stars” could be 2015’s most hopeful teen anthem, while the title track finds the Girl Meets World actress in a darker mood.

“Just another hotel room, never felt so all alone,” the teenager sings at the beginning of the song before asking for guidance from above in the chorus. She decides to keep on going (“this dream burns inside of me and I can’t just let it go”) — albeit with caution. The video for “Eyes Wide Open” dropped yesterday (June 16) and it’s a suitably serene affair that finds Sabrina performing the song with her band, gazing into a mirror and twirling in curtains. Watch up top.
