Kitty’s “Drink Tickets” Is A Straight-Up Jam

For those of you who haven’t checked in with Kitty since her days as Kitty Pryde the Tumblr rapper, you might be surprised to know she has pretty seamlessly transitioned into the realm of bedroom pop. These days, she’s liable to deploy her feathery singing voice just as often as her (better than you think) rhymes. And it all coalesces for arguably her best pop offering yet on “Drink Tickets.”

Kitty switches back and forth between a handful of different sing-songy flows throughout, and the song is centered on a bass line that sounds like it’s straight out of the Pure Funk compilation or some lost Gap Band scrap.
