“I Really Like You” has been a slow-burner of a semi-hit for Carly Rae Jepsen since it first arrived waaaaay back on March 1. The Canadian singer promoted the hell out of the lead single from her upcoming LP E·MO·TION, while Justin Bieber and the rest of the Scooter Braun-managed gang even got behind it by whipping up a ready-made viral lipdub video set to the song. Despite all this, “I Really Like You” peaked at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100, though it steadily remains a modest seller on the iTunes download chart, where it’s still sticking around in the Top 100 singles .

Nearly four months later, it’s time to finally move on, and after the announcement that “Run Away With Me” will be Jepsen’s second single off her upcoming LP, the tune has inevitably popped up online. Chalk it up to the fact that E·MO·TION is being released in Japan this week, while the rest of the world will have to wait for it to arrive two months from now, on August 21.

So far, there hasn’t been a subpar track to emerge from this era of Jepsen’s, from “All That” to “Emotion” to “Your Type.” Thankfully, “Run Away With Me” grabs the torch and keeps the E·MO·TION train barreling down the tracks at full speed. It’s not as instantly catchy as “I Really Like You,” but with the glossy synth-pop production (done partially by Shellback) and Carly Rae’s warm and bubbly vocals, “Run Away With Me” keeps in line with the rest of the irresistible, ’80s-leaning material Jepsen has served up in the past three years.
