Seven years is a long time to keep folks waiting for new material, but Janet Jackson‘s fans clearly haven’t left the building. The singer’s new single “No Sleeep” arrived with a thunderstorm and a sexy groove on Monday (June 22) morning, and after going on sale on iTunes at midnight, the song is now perched at an impressive #14 on the digital retailer’s download chart.

While Selena Gomez didn’t take nearly as much time off between albums as Jackson — her debut solo LP (sans her band The Scene) Stars Dance was released two years ago, and a fall 2014 hits compilation produced hit single “The Heart Wants What It Wants” — the performance of her new single is impressive nonetheless; like Janet’s “No Sleeep,” the A$AP Rocky-assisted “Good For You” was made available for streaming and purchase at midnight last night, and by this morning it was #1 on iTunes.

Personally, we’ll just be happy to see anything break the “See You Again”/“Bad Blood”/“Trap Queen” gridlock on the charts. Don’t get us wrong — all three are decent summer jams. But, you know, a little diversity never hurts.

Plus, come on — Janet is back!
