Foxes Interview
We spoke to Foxes about "Clarity," her debut LP and the elastic nature of youth. Read on.

Foxes landed a surprise top 10 hit in 2013 as the voice of Zedd’s crossover club smash “Clarity.” She released her debut LP Glorious a couple of months later, but it didn’t generate any further hits (on this side of the pond) — despite living up to its title. That could change with “Body Talk,” the lead single from the underrated English diva’s sophomore LP. As far as ’80s throwbacks go, this is hard to beat.

Produced by Jim Eliot, “Body Talk” lands somewhere between vintage Madonna and post-disco Donna Summer. “Let your body talk even when it feels so lost,” Foxes sings. “Spinning when the tears they fall, you gotta just let it go.” The melancholy lyrics (it’s “I Will Survive” without the theatrics) combine brilliantly with the retro-synths to create one of the best dance-pop songs of the summer.
