We’ve finally reached the weekend, Idolator readers! The past few days were filled with major music moments, which kicked off with Selena Gomez dropping her “Good For You” single with A$AP Rocky and Janet Jackson releasing the much-anticipated “No Sleeep” tune.

Tove Lo and Years & Years unveiled their music videos for “Timebomb” and “Foundation” (respectively), while Lana Del Rey dropped yet another “Honeymoon” snippet to tease her fans. Demi Lovato also announced that her “Cool For The Summer” single will be released soon.

Over here at Idolator, we did our infamous Pop Perspective on both new tunes by Selena and Janet. We also launched our final poll for 2015’s Song Of The Summer — click here to vote! We chatted with rising artists Christian Burghardt, Zella Day and Erik Hassle!

And of course, our readers spoke their minds on the going-ons in the frantic musicworld. Read some of the best and shadiest comments below!

:: Ice Warrior got RiRi together on Is ‘R8’ Producer Mitus Teasing A New Rihanna Track On Instagram? Listen To “The Deep End”: “The thing that is most annoying about this entire album ‘era’ is that there is absolutely no coherent communication whatsoever. Is she still working on it? Is there a release date set? I mean, why even bother with the three singles so early on if NONE of this info, or even a hint of it, is clarified? The endless snippets and teasers just make everything more frustrating. Rather don’t show anything than tease the public pointlessly.”

:: happy1ga had some odd facts on Janet Jackson To Receive Inaugural Ultimate Icon Award At The 2015 BET Awards: Janet Jackson is considered a “legend?” I mean, I’m old as hell & bumped the Old Skool Janet when it was fresh in the 80s, but after that, I gave a pass to Miss Boring Horny Whispers. That’s not even taking into account this new “No Sleep,” snoozefest. I hope whoever remixes it has the clip of Samuel L Jackson saying “Go The Fuck To Sleep,” at least a few times mixed in it, but they will probably fall asleep too easily just listening to the track, to ever get thru it to mix it.

:: And XboxCentral laid out the truth tea: “You are pressed. Of course Janet Jackson is a Legend and a Queen. The 80’s? Janet slayed the 90’s from front to back and into the early 2000’s. She and Michael are the only artists of all time to have #1’s in 3 successive decades…Michael–70’s, 80’s, 90’s….Janet–80’s, 90’s, 00’s…Don’t act like you don’t know her track record…Bow down and STFU!”

:: David Miller is #TeamJanetComeback on Pop Perspective: Janet Jackson’s “No Sleeep” Reviewed By All Four Idolator Editors: “I think this is an amazing first single. Janet has always liked to just kind of sneak in through the back door and then blow you away. Like everyone else is saying it’s a brave choice in this day and age of pop. I’m just glad to have my queen back and staying true to form. Janet has always put out great music even if it wasn’t main stream hit music. Can’t wait for the album to see what Janet has to say about the world around us.”

:: klinedb had a lot to say on “Bitch I’m Madonna” Becomes First ‘Rebel Heart’ Single To Chart On The Billboard Hot 100: “Most long time and or traditional Madonna fans don’t like “Bitch I’m Madonna” because it does all the things her critics go on about at length. It’s frivolous, youthful, energetic, brash, silly, fun and without an ounce of seriousness. To some, fans and critics alike, it feels akin to yanking a tiger’s tail. But Madonna, while she may speak on sexism and ageism, will always keep on doing what she wants. The core fans got what they “wanted” – a traditional, dance pop lead single with classic Madonna themes in the form of “Living for Love” and a grown up AC/pop ballad with “Ghosttown.” Neither charted or had mainstream success despite massive promo performances, fun/cool videos and being, well, great stuff! Maybe this time Madonna followed her gut and did what she wanted – or his kids, given that “Bitch I’m Madonna” is their fave Rebel Heart track – which results in an unexpected hit! Everyone – fans, feminists, hell even the critics – should be thrilled. The Queen is back on the upswing. The general viewing public clearly seems to like the song and video. Let’s see if the streams result in airplay and downloads. If the world is lucky, before she heads out on tour she’ll make a cute video with her kids for the title track that reflects on her life, career, family and rebel heart.”

:: But Alan Smith clearly isn’t a fan on Is Madonna Prepping A “Justify My Love/”Whole Lotta Love” Mashup For The Rebel Heart Tour?: “Madonna used the gay community to culturally appropriate herself. Now she is using the Rock community to do the same thing. Pathetic old creature can’t just do pop tarty dance music.”

:: James Fluke shared his thoughts on Selena Gomez Completely Reinvents Herself On Excellent A$AP Rocky-Assisted Single “Good For You”: Listen: A total revelation. I think she sounds great, and the song is a jam! It’s no ‘My Dilemma’ (but let’s be honest, what is?). I don’t hear an immediate “hit” – there’s no “pop explosion” here, but I think it could definitely be a slow burner – provided the label support her and the track.

:: Ice Warrior isn’t here for Taylor on Will Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” Be 2015’s Song Of The Summer?: “It’s not snobby – the song is derivative at best and the video was just random famous people snarling at each other. The only reason this song made #1 is because of people pressing the replay button on Youtube. Stop praising and defending mediocrity.”

:: Lastly, Jameson said what we’re all thinking on Countess LuAnn Debuts New Single “Girl Code (Don’t Be So Uncool)” On ‘Watch What Happens Live’: Thoroughly impressed – I wish Andy would talk the ladies into doing a “Real Housewives Summer Tour” I would pay big money to see Melissa , Luann, Kim & kandy etc. live.
