Pop Perspective: Britney x Iggy's "Pretty Girls"
Each Idolator editor gives their thoughts on the ladies' latest single.

Iggy Azalea has tried to maintain her social media hiatus, but sometimes the rapstress slips through the cracks of Twitter to speak her mind. For this go around, the artist is explaining her thoughts on her “Pretty Girls” collaboration with Britney Spears and why it has become such a looked-over single on the charts.

I-G-G-Y and Brit-Brit dropped the cheeky tune back in May, and received polarizing responses. An accompanying video and a performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards could not help the single, as it is currently hanging on at #81 on the Hot 100.

“Its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured…,” Iggy said in a response to a fan’s tweet. She continued with another response that is currently catching people’s attention: “@ThePopZone my comment is factual, it applies to any song. I dont have to suck the womans asshole 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls.”

While Iggy’s endless tweet-for-tweet approach was not the best, at least she is telling the truth. Pushing “Pretty Girls” aside, promotion is essential for any artist’s single — whether is it their solo track or a collaboration. It is up to both parties, as well as their PR team, to keep the audience’s interest long enough so that the tune can make an impact on the charts and beyond.
