Co-written by Ido Zmishlany (the man behind Shawn Mendes’ “Life Of The Party”), the hook-filled anthem sounds like something from The Lion King soundtrack with its joyous chants and euphoric drums — but it’s not necessarily about the singer/songwriter’s homeland.

“I’m a South African, and my song ‘Into The Wild’ has all the African feel but it’s really always been about New York,” Connell tells Idolator. “To me, New York is the wildest place on earth and what I love most about this video is how it captures all the excitement and wanderlust that the City inspires.” As you might have guessed from that, the visual finds the newcomer wandering around the Big Apple.
