Years & Years' 'Communion': Album Review
We dive into one of the more genuine pop records of 2015.

We’ve finally reached the weekend, Idolator readers! The past few days were filled with major music moments, which kicked off with what EVERYONE has been talking about this week — Ariana Grande and #DonutGate. After getting caught licking pastries and claiming to hate America, the mini-diva has issued apologies (not once, but twice) and now has the police involved in the situation. Oh, Justin Bieber and John Legend were in an unofficial bare booty competition on Instagram.

Years & Years released their anticipated Communion debut LP (read our review here), while Disclosure and Sam Smith are gearing to drop their “Omen” collaboration soonThe Weeknd unveiled the title and release date of his forthcoming sophomore album and Madonna‘s Rebel Heart hacker is now in jail.

Over here at Idolator, we had a bevy of premieres up our sleeves: RAC‘s remix of Holychild‘s “Money All Around,” Karmin‘s take on Rihanna‘s “Bitch Better Have My Money,” Kevin Rudolf‘s “That Other Ship” lyric video and Hit-Boy‘s “Stay Up.” We also chatted with Owl City, Little Boots and rising starlet Kaya Stewart. Lastly, Demi Lovato‘s “Cool For The Summer” won our Ibrawlator poll!

And of course, our readers spoke their minds on the going-ons in the frantic musicworld. Read some of the best and shadiest comments below!

:: underthefan had a few words for Miguel on The Miguel-Frank Ocean Rivalry Just Got Real: Miguel Says He Makes “Better Music”: “Arrogance is not only an ugly trait, but it puts a blemish on all of
one’s talents, skills, and accomplishments. Let music critics and experts tell you your music is better, and then that claim would have an actual weight behind it. I liked his new album, but now this leaves a bad taste. I guess I won’t
be spending my money on seeing him live. I will save that for Frank instead.”

:: Mike Nied said this on Natalia Kills Changed Her Name To Teddy Sinclair: “I’ve Never Felt So Natural”: “I couldn’t agree more about the change. Natalia Kills makes so much more sense with the goth pop sound. Either this symbolizes a swift change in musical direction, or it is kind of misguided. I’m still hoping that she can turn things around career wise. She has undeniable talent, but she really made a mess out of everything. I almost feel like this is her new misguide attempt to hide her mistakes instead of owning up to them (which she STILL hasn’t really done)…”

:: Jonathan Riggs had this quip on Charli XCX Is “Over” ‘Sucker,’ Says She’s Working On An Electronic Party Album: I’m sure the inevitable “Charlotte Emma” album will be her most personal yet.

:: Blue Dawg had a lot to say about #DonutGate on Ariana Grande Caught Vandalizing Donut Shop With Her Tongue, Fans Express Disappointment On Twitter: “This is a 22 year old supposedly adult, not a 2-year old child. It’s part and parcel of our current culture that the Lindsey Lohans, Ariana Grandes and Justin Biebers of our world are somehow deemed worthy of a pass on complying with laws, rules and simple common responsibilities of society because they have somehow managed to parlay a little talent into notoriety and great wealth. Just as disgusting as this girl’s actions is the fact that most of the media stories covering this incident just brushed aside the repugnant nature of her actions and rushed to focus on the fact that it was confirmation that she was dating some backup dancer who will be yesterday’s coffee grounds in a few weeks. What she did is not just rude, it’s a demonstration of a total disrespect for anyone but herself and also a violation of the law, though I know no criminal repercussions will ever come from it. So this is just yet another example of a spoiled, little rich kid believing that the rules don’t apply to her because she sells a few cd’s. All of us have done something stupid in our lives, on more than one occasions, but I suspect that this is not the last we will hear of this girl being an idiot and showing her contempt for other people.”

:: Thomas Alex Dugrosprez wasn’t here for gender bashing on John Legend’s Fully Naked Butt Pic Lands On Instagram, Thanks To Chrissy Teigen: “Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the positive comments this pic will get, while the “Anaconda” cover received slut-shaming, and mysoginistic comments.”

:: Jay dished out the harsh truth on Ashanti Cancelled A Club Show When Only A Few Fans Showed Up, Caught Making Fake Excuse On Instagram: “She should have kept going. Her time in spotlight is for the most part done, she had a few hits, it is what it is. She should be grateful some are still interested in her.”

:: Lastly, Luke Palm wrapped up with this on Britney Spears Hit The Studio With DJ Mustard: “All is good news until will.i.am pops up to the scene…”
