Fans of Leona Lewis already know that the beautiful British artist has a brand new deal with Island after parting ways with Simon Cowell‘s Syco label, and her upcoming fifth LP I Am will be released in September. But while stomping self-empowerment anthem “Fire Under My Feet” served as the lead single from the album in the UK, here in the States we’re getting “Thunder” as the first taste of I Am.

Today Idolator is premiering the soulful, soaring “Thunder,” about which Leona tells us, “‘Thunder’ is a song that is so close to my heart. I wrote it about the strength of rising after the fall and I’m thankful to be able share it.”

Like many of Lewis’ singles released since her stunning debut with chart-topper “Bleeding Love,” it’s hard not to get swept up in the emotion “Thunder” evokes.
