It was announced today that Ed Sheeran, who’s started up Gingerbread Man Records, has signed fellow Brit singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson to his label. And this gentleman sounds much like you’d expect a bloke signed to a label run by Ed Sheeran to sound.

Behold, Jamie’s single “Wasn’t Expecting That”:

This game-changing anthem precedes Lawson’s debut LP, brilliantly titled Jamie Lawson and due out October 9. In a completely daring move, the album was produced by Sheeran’s longtime collaborator Will Hicks.

By purely unexplainable coincidence, Jamie Lawson’s Jamie Lawson has been mixed by Ruadhri Cushnan, who has also mixed some of the Ed Sheeran oeuvre.

Stay tuned.
