2015 MTV VMA Nominations
Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce lead the 2015 MTV VMA nominations.

Last night (July 21), Twitter exploded into a popcorn-worthy frenzy as Taylor Swift decided to butt her tweets into Nicki Minaj‘s mentions. The topic? A little “Bad Blood” over the much-discussed 2015 MTV VMAs nominations.

When the categories were revealed, Nicki (as well as Azealia Banks and Tinashe) voiced their opinions on how they felt they got snubbed by the awards show. “The Night Is Still Young” rapstress felt particularly strong about the decision, and she used Twitter as her platform to speak out on it.

Nicki thought her “Anaconda” video deserved a Video Of The Year nod. “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” she exclaimed on Twitter.

In comes in Taylor Swift, who felt the need to join the conversation and be pop’s saving grace that so many people claim her to be. She tweeted, “@NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”

Then, what may read to some as a nice gesture from America’s sweetheart, she decided to throw in some very subtle shade: “If I win, please come up with me!! You’re invited to any stage I’m ever on.”

But, the “feud” soon became a lighthearted one — thanks to Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran. The two jokingly started their own Twitter beef, with the “Uptown Funk” singer tweeting “…VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran Fuck You!”
