Vance Joy To Re-Release Debut LP With New Single “Fire And The Flood”: Watch The Video

Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy struck gold with 2013 single “Riptide.” The simple ditty was a multi-platinum smash at home and soon caught fire in Europe — reaching the top 10 in Germany, Austria, Ireland and the UK. It was only a matter of time before the irresistible anthem clicked stateside and by late 2014, the 27-year-old had a top 30 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s popularity translated into healthy sales for debut LP Dream Your Life Away and even snagged the newcomer a spot on Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour.

However, if there is a downside to scoring an international smash, it’s radio’s tendency to overlook the following singles. Many stations were still spinning “Riptide” well into 2015, which meant that gems like “Georgia” and “Mess Is Mine” didn’t get their chance to shine. Now that Vance’s breakthrough hit has finally run its course, it’s the perfect time to reissue the album with new tracks. The first of which is a typically moody tune called “Fire And The Flood.”

While not as radical a departure as synth-strewn Paper Towns soundtrack cut “Great Summer,” the songsmith’s latest single does have a fuller sound than the acoustic, stripped-back fare of Dream Your Life Away. The chorus, in particular, packs a punch. “You’re the fire and the flood and I always feel you in my blood,” Vance wails. “Everything is fine when your head’s resting next to mine.” Watch the simple but effective video below.
