Sophia Black Delivers Another Dreamy Synth-Pop Anthem: Fall In Love With Debut EP Cut “Anchor”

Sophia Black was discovered by Dr. Luke when she was 13 years old. Seven years (and a lot of hard work) later, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter is gearing up for the release of her self-titled debut EP (due August 21). The five-song set collects the newcomer’s well-received buzz tracks (“Kissing,” “Vibration” and “OVR AGN”) as well as the mysteriously-titled “Mizu” and new single “Anchor.”

A collaboration with Billboard and SOHN, “Anchor” is the rising diva’s dreamiest synth-experiment to date. It’s also her most accessible thanks to a 24-karat-gold chorus. “And though we don’t know, where we’ll up I know,” Sophie sings in breathy bursts. “We got to trust in the wind, don’t you give in.” That’s when the most gentle drop in recent memory kicks in as the 20-year-old declares: “I won’t ever let you down ’cause I’m your anchor.” Listen to the gem below.

Sophia Black’s self-titled debut EP tracklist:

1. Kissing 2. Vibration 3. Mizu 4. OVR AGN 5. Anchor
