Simon Cowell Talks Zayn Malik Leaving Syco
Simon Cowell clears up rumors about the One Direction boys.

Zayn Malik‘s solo career has recently taken a sharp turn, as he started a Twitter spat with producer and once-friend Naughty Boy. Now, the former One Direction singer has made a decision that could either make or break his next musical move.

According to Billboard Biz, Zayn has reportedly signed with Turn First Artists (home to acts like Conor Maynard, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding), where he will be managed by Sarah Stennett. For those wondering why this is such a big deal, Stennett is responsible for the boost of Iggy Azalea‘s mainstream career.

Last week, Simon Cowell (who formed 1D) revealed that he dropped Zayn from his Syco record label. “[L]uckily within Sony there are a lot of labels who are really good,” he says. “I have a feeling there was one particular label who would love to have him and they did. It enables them to treat him as a priority and us to carry on with what we’re doing with the boys.”
