BANKS has been laying low after having a breakout 2014, but now the singer emerges on a new version of Chet Faker‘s “1998.” The original take appears on the singer/producer’s debut LP Built On Glass, and he enlisted the California singer for this update to promote an upcoming string of North American festival dates, starting with Montreal’s Osheaga on Friday (July 31).
BANKS’ lovesick mumblecore moments are a perfect match for the woozy beat, and eventually she takes over the proceedings by breaking out into a cathartic chant. The new collab premiered on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Beats 1 show today (July 28).
