Grace Talks "You Don't Own Me" & Debut EP
We spoke to Aussie soul singer Grace about "You Don't Own Me" and her debut EP.

Grace took her murky hip-hop/soul update of Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit “You Don’t Own Me” all the way to number one in Australia. (Interestingly, her older brother Conrad Sewell topped the charts a couple of weeks later with “Start Again”). The 18-year-old is now trying her luck in the US and dropped by The Today Show earlier this morning (July 28) to perform the track with collaborator G-Eazy.

As far as television debuts go, this was impressive. The teenager looked a little (ok, very) nervous at the beginning, but she soon calmed down and showed why she has industry heavyweights like Quincy Jones swooning over her voice. The diva’s rap companion also did a great job and deserves a lot of credit for bringing the crisp cover into the 21st century with his two verses. Grace’s debut EP Memo is now available on iTunes. Watch the rising Aussie soul singer in action up top.
