Janet Jackson was previously set to kick off her Unbreakable World Tour later next month, but plans have now been halted as the entertainer is putting family first.

Her father, Joe, was admitted in a Brazil hospital for health complications on July 25 (which happened to be his 87th birthday) and Janet flew down to be by his side until he is more stable.

The Jackson patriarch posted a statement about his condition:

“To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times. Through God’s intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support.”

Janet’s forthcoming album (her first one in seven years), will arrive in late September on Rhythm Nation Records/BMG and features the J. Cole-assisted “No Sleeep” remix. If things go as planned, the singer’s tour will begin on August 31 in Vancouver.
