Natalie Imbruglia makes a long-overdue comeback with new covers album 'Male.'

Natalie Imbruglia won this week’s Throwback Thursday by performing ’90s smash “Torn” on Today earlier this morning (July 30). The Australian singer was there to promote new LP Male (a collection of covers originally recorded by men), but happily belted out her signature song. “I made a promise in ’97 when all these great things happened to me because of that song to make friends with it,” she explained. “I hate when you go to a gig, to your favorite act, and they don’t play the hit song.”

There’s so much to love about this. Natalie sounded impeccable, seemingly hasn’t aged a day in the last 18 years and delivered a welcome burst of nostalgia. Of course, the 40-year-old also performed new single “Instant Crush” (a moody acoustic reworking of Daft Punk and Julian Casablancas’ 2013 club banger) and it sounds even better live. Male (due tomorrow) is the comeback queen’s fifth studio album. You can pre-order/download it here.
