Zayn Malik Says One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” Single Is “Sick”

Ever since its release last week, One Direction‘s “Drag Me Down” has been inescapable — thanks to their loyal Directioners on social media and their first live performance over the weekend.

Even former band member Zayn Malik chimed in to support his friends! “Proud of my boys the new single is sick. Big love. :) x,” the singer tweeted on Saturday.

The tune, the first of 1D without Malik and also their best lead single so far, has already broke a Spotify record for one-day streams. It was played 4.75 million times worldwide on July 31, beating out Wiz Khalifa‘s 4.26 million for “See You Again.”

If that wasn’t enough, “Drag Me Down” also became the first song ever to reach No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Chart on its first day of release. If One Direction keeps this up, this next album era will be quite the memorable one. View Zayn’s supportive tweet below:
