Jill Scott Tops Album Chart With ‘Woman’, Bea Miller Debuts In Top 10
It’s another relatively sluggish week for music sales, as Jill Scott lands her second consecutive chart-topping studio album on the Billboard 200 with Woman, and her fourth Top 10 entry overall. Woman moved 62,000 units, according to Billboard, 58,000 of which were actual sales.
Philly soul singer Scott has released five studio albums to date, with only her debut, 2000’s Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1, missing the Top 10. (It peaked at #17.)
A bit further down, the Southpaw soundtrack debuts at #5 (45,000 units, 32,000 sales) and become the latest in a line of seven soundtracks to crack the Top 10 this year so far. Artists included on the movie tie-in LP include Eminem, Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent, The Weeknd and late film composer James Horner (Titanic, Avatar), who died in June when a small plane he was piloting crashed near Santa Barbara, California.
This leaves onetime X Factor US contestant Bea Miller to enter at #7 with her debut LP, Not An Apology.
