Rachel Platten Interview
Rachel Platten talks breakthrough hit "Fight Song," her EP and long road to the top.

Rachel Platten has spoken before about how writing summer hit “Fight Song” gave her strength to carry on with pursuing a career in music. But when the 34-year-old songwriter stepped onto the View stage today, she met some children and families who were inspired by “Fight Song” to overcome their own personal hardships.

“I didn’t go into music to make hit songs,” a moved Platten said on the program after being introduced to a young family whose two-year-old daughter, a “Fight Song” fan, had a tumor removed from her spinal cord last fall. “I went into music to touch people’s lives. The fact that I get to do that with my first single is a dream come true.”

“Fight Song” is currently at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Watch Rachel sing it above, and catch her interview on today’s The View below.
