It’s been a huge day for Mariah Carey. The legendary diva received her long-overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and hydrated thirsty Lambs with snippets of a new “Infinity” remix. Mimi has teamed up with French Montana for a hip-hop overhaul of her underrated slow jam, which she teased via Instagram videos. While I adore the original version, this sounds like absolute trash. Who needed a lazy verse from a flop rapper about drinking vodka and calling your friends? Bye.

On the bright side, that explains what the flawless 45-year-old was doing in the studio with French. (I’m relieved he isn’t featured on her new album). Apart from dropping belated remixes, Mariah is still slaying Las Vegas with her residency and working on a Christmas movie for Hallmark. The pop icon will direct and star in the festive phenomenon, which would appear to be some kind of variety special — at least from the title Mariah Carey’s Christmas Project.
