Carly Rae Jepsen premiered a new song, “Making the Most of the Night,” today (August 7) on Apple Music. Lyrically, this one finds a friend of hers feeling down, so CRJ suggests that they go on a joyride. Then, as if to show how thrilling that would be, there’s that hard-hitting dance drop — recalling not dubstep, but the lasting influence of Phil Collins. This song, off E·MO·TIONwas written by Sia, and you can sense that if only because of how high-stakes it all feels.

E·MO·TION is out in the United States August 21 on Schoolboy/Interscope, then in the UK on September 25. Listen to “Making the Most of the Night” below.
