New Aaliyah?
Timbo claims there's unreleased Aaliyah music on the way.

Timbaland‘s got his plate full, putting together his Justin Timberlake-assisted solo album Opera Noir, apparently prepping the release of previously unheard Aaliyah tracks, resuscitating R8 and working with Zendaya. And today (August 11), we may have gotten a (surprising) taste of his LP with “Smile” surfacing online.

The vibe of the song isn’t the surprising part — the beat has his typical balance of organic (handclaps, piano) and futuristic, there are soulful vocals from his signee and Empire guest star V. Bozeman and the lovey-dovey lyrics are in line with his 20/20-era JT compositions. The curveball comes from Timbo himself: He’s never been shy about throwing his voice onto his productions, but here lets loose with some gruff singing, sounding like a big ol’ teddy bear.

Hear it below.
