Country artists have been dabbling in other genres since Dolly Parton went disco in the ’70s. More recently, Carrie Underwood teamed up with Max Martin for 2009 gem “Quitter,” while Taylor Swift tried a bit of everything on Red before wholly embracing pop on 1989. The Band Perry are the latest country superstars to broaden their horizons by working with super producer RedOne (Lady Gaga’s The Fame and Fame Monster) on “Live Forever.”

The lead single from the trio’s third album isn’t as radical a departure as you might expect. “Live Forever” is very much country — only with less twang and the kind of serotonin-raising chorus that bridges genres. The Band Perry unveiled the Colin Tilley-directed video today (August 17) and it’s a colorful affair that finds the siblings performing against bright lights intercut with footage of people overcoming adversity. Watch up top.
