Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon cover surfaced online this afternoon (August 20) and was initially dismissed as fake. Fans reasoned that the ever-stylish diva would not sign off on something that looks like a poster for Starline Tours. However, the artwork eventually popped up on Google Play (and other streaming sites) — confirming that it is, in fact, legit. The news sparked a social media meltdown.

“The honeymoon cover is ugly,” one fan lamented. “Everyone hates the Honeymoon cover,” protested another. Someone even compared it to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which is a particularly low blow. Here’s why I disagree. The artwork is actually a clever play on Lana’s obsession with celebrity.

What better way to express this than have the 30-year-old posing on a bus that ushers starry-eyed tourists around Hollywood hotspots? It’s tongue-in-cheek, irreverent and ties in perfectly with her paparrazi-abliterating “High By The Beach” visual. Anyway, it looks like I’m alone on this. Check out some of the reactions below.
