Azealia Calls Out Black Media Outlets On Twitter For Their Lack Of Support

Azealia Banks Drags Nicki Minaj And K. Michelle
Azealia threw a little (ok, a lot) of shade at Nicki Minaj and K. Michelle on Twitter.

At this point in her career, Azealia Banks has become more known for her blatant opinions and Twitter feuds rather than her music (2014’s Broke With Expensive Taste is actually a great album). Her fiery Twitter conversations are still sparking, and the artist’s latest rant occurred today (August 24).

The topic was fueled by this BET article about the artist and revolved around black media outlets like NYC’s Hot 97 radio station and BET, who Azealia feels have “done the most to damage my brand.” She continued to explain these outlets gloss over the bad that black men do, and instead fail to highlight her success.

“No really the black media does not give black women the same lee-way and benefit of doubt that black men are given,” she tweeted. “Black men are allowed to fuck up, rape people, murder people, have sex with underage people… and hip-hop will still support their shit.”

While Azealia does have valid points in her arguments, it is probably best during this time in her career to express them in a less combative manner — especially since she is currently without a record deal.
