Imagine Dragons Release New Single “Roots”: Listen

Ah, the curious case of Imagine Dragons. After their 2012 debut album Night Visions sold 2.5 million copies and spawned three Top 20 singles (one of which, “Radioactive,” sold 7 million paid downloads and won the band a Grammy), the quintet returned returned in February with sophomore LP Smoke + Mirrors, which debuted at #1 but quickly slid out of sight, sound and mind.

So here we are with a brand new single released just six months after Smoke + Mirrors arrived, called “Roots.” It keeps pretty much in line with the Las Vegas band’s pop-rock aesthetic while adding a slight reggae vibe to the mix.

“I’m goin’ back to my roots, another day, another door, another high, another low / rock bottom, rock bottom, rock bottom,” vocalist Dan Reynolds sings. Give the song a listen below and see if you think it will return Imagine Dragons to their former radio-hit glory.
