Watch Nicki Minaj Strike The Fear Of God Into Miley Cyrus At The MTV Video Music Awards
Leading up to the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Nicki Minaj ignited a controversy about what she perceived as the lack of diversity in the nominee field. Both Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus gave their two cents, disagreeing with Nicki’s comments for various reasons. Swift offered up some neutered comments on Twitter, but Miley, in a New York Times interview, got personal, saying “Nicki Minaj is not too kind and not very polite.”
Fast forward to the VMAs on Sunday (August 30). Nicki brought out surprise guest Taylor during her show-opening performance. Beef quashed. Miley didn’t get such a nice reception from the rapper. When Nicki accepted her award for Best Hip-Hop Video, to close out her speech, she tossed it back to “This bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?” At first it felt staged, because of Nicki’s smirk, but Miley seemed shook as hell, and I’m not buying that she’s that good of an actor. For her part, Miley answered with some shade (pay attention when she says “losers”).
