Kelly Rowland revealed that she's already working on her fifth LP. Find out more.

At 17, Jacob Whitesides is exactly half Kelly Rowland’s age. Which makes them unlikely collaborators — at least when it comes to recording a sexy duet. Once you get your head around the age gap and consequently disturbing lyrics (“under the water we made love”), “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is a perfectly enjoyable mid-tempo ballad. It just should have been sung by artists that were born in the same decade and a half.

“There was a blanket covering everything you never said, we were atlantis,” the Destiny’s Child diva sings in one verse. “All of the sunken ships inside this bed. Under the water, under the water, we lost blood.” That leads to the chorus: “I know what we did last summer and you won’t let me forget it, you won’t let me forget it.” Jacob and Kelly sound great individually, but this isn’t the right track for either of them.

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” drops tomorrow (September 1) if you’re into May-December (March-June, in this case) romances. Listen to a preview below.
