Pop Perspective: Janet Jackson's "No Sleeep"
The Idolator editors review and rate the entertainer's new single out of 10.

Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable era is becoming more tangible with each passing minute. The flawless 49-year-old confirmed the artwork and tracklist this morning (September 3) and casually dropped the title track this afternoon. Like “No Sleeep,” “Unbreakable” is a mellow Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production that wouldn’t sound out of place on any of the pop icon’s classic ’90s albums. Unlike the lead single, however, the comeback queen’s latest bop isn’t preoccupied with the bedroom.

Instead, “Unbreakable” is a thank you letter to supporters — from her husband to the fans. “I lived through my mistakes, it’s just a part of growing,” Janet sings in the intro. “And never for a single moment, did I ever go without your love.” The enduring diva then declares her love for all the people in her life over a warm blanket of beats. Make sure you listen to the very end, because the hitmaker has a special message for you!
