'Scream Queens' Premiere: Recap
Ariana Grande & Nick Jonas get slain in the first episode...maybe?

The original fans of Jim Henson‘s beloved Muppets series that aired in the ’70s and early ’80s are all grown up…and so is the racy humor of ABC’s retooled The Muppets, which premiered Tuesday (September 22) night.

From Fozzie making gay “bear” jokes to Kermit dealing with a breakup to guest musical act Imagine Dragons singing on show-within-a-show Up Late Miss Piggy about hitting “rock bottom,” this is a hilarious, if not dark, new Muppets series that will no doubt please adults and savvy kids who manage to catch at least a few of the otherwise over-the-head zingers.

And, about Imagine Dragons — catch the quartet performing their latest single “Roots” on the Muppets premiere above.
