Leona Lewis' 'I Am': Album Review
Leona's new album seems to be about more than just showcasing her voice.

Leona Lewis’ new LP I Am didn’t exactly set the charts on fire when it dropped last week. The adult contemporary-leaning opus debuted at a disappointing number 39 on the Billboard 200 and also arrived with a whimper in the UK, charting at number 12. When you consider that her debut LP Spirit reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic, that’s a bit of a come down. But the 30-year-old isn’t worried.

“It’s been a week that my album #IAM has been released and I wanted to write a little message to my buns to express how I feel,” she told fans via a candid Instagram post. “Embarking on this album was an incredible land mark for me. Starting out independently without the backing of a major label was a hard and long road. I had to strip back so many layers and let go of a lot of things and get UNCOMFORTABLE!”

“I had to dig deep and really come out of myself, push myself and break boundaries,” the Brit continued. “Being somewhat of an introvert, I found it highly challenging and emotionally draining at times but I always new that it was for a bigger purpose. I cannot tell you how proud this album makes me, and how personally liberated and peaceful I feel. I still have moments when i get nervous or anxious but I always come back to that place of inner freedom because I have allowed my true voice to sing loud and clear.”

“It’s not always about making a crater with a Big Bang, sometimes it’s the small and subtle marks that begin to tip the scale and eventually weigh in our favour,” she says alluding to the album’s tepid response. “So thank you all for being a part of this with me, my buns 4 life, I love you guys and I will always be open and true with you. I hope you’re having a beautiful Sunday and living your authentic life.” See the post below.
